01

Know the agreement before you look

Discuss what is open, what is private, what needs advance discussion and what is not allowed. A vague arrangement is difficult for everyone involved.

Do not use a new match to resolve uncertainty with an existing partner. Work that out before bringing someone else into the situation.

02

Disclose without oversharing

Say enough for a potential match to make an informed decision about the relationship structure. You do not need to publish private details about a partner who is not participating.

Do not imply that a partner has agreed when they have not. Honesty protects every person’s consent.

03

Respect separate boundaries

An agreement with a primary partner does not replace the boundaries of a new connection. Each person can set their own pace and limits.

If assumptions conflict, pause rather than expecting another person to adapt to an unspoken rule.
