01

Separate privacy from secrecy

It is reasonable to use a limited profile and keep identifying details private at first. It is not reasonable to hide information another person needs to make an informed decision about the connection.

Use recent, authorized photos and avoid images that reveal an address, workplace badge, license plate or another person who did not agree to appear.

02

Control the information trail

Use a dedicated email address, a strong unique password and the platform’s own messaging until trust develops. Review photo backgrounds and metadata before sharing files directly.

Never send identification documents or financial information to a match. Requests for money, gift cards, crypto or emergency help are reasons to stop and report the account.

03

Agree on communication boundaries

Discuss when and how each person wants to be contacted. Do not move the conversation to a more revealing channel simply because one person insists.

Privacy preferences can change. Check again before sharing screenshots, photos or details about a connection with anyone else.
