Secure the account first

Use a unique password and enable available security protections. Keep early messages on the platform so its reporting tools remain available.

Do not click unexpected login links sent by a match. Open the service independently and check notifications there.

02

Watch for urgency and isolation

Pressure to move instantly to private messaging, hide the conversation, send money or ignore your instincts is a warning sign.

Scammers may maintain long conversations before asking for help. Time invested does not make a financial request safer.

03

Prepare an exit before meeting

Choose a public place, tell someone the plan, use your own transportation and keep enough battery to call for help. Do not reveal your home address for a first meeting.

If a person ignores a small boundary online, do not expect them to respect a larger one in person. Block and report when necessary.
