Write for the right match, not every match
Broad statements attract broad misunderstandings. Say whether you prefer conversation first, occasional dates or something ongoing, while leaving private details for later.
Do not invent a lifestyle, relationship status or location to increase responses. A smaller number of compatible conversations is more useful than a crowded inbox built on the wrong premise.
Discuss expectations early
Ask open questions and listen to the answer. Frequency of contact, discretion, exclusivity and safer-sex expectations are reasonable topics before a meeting.
A boundary is useful information, not a challenge to negotiate away. If your expectations do not align, ending the conversation respectfully is a successful outcome.
Keep the first meeting simple
Choose a public place, a defined time window and independent transportation. Avoid changing the plan under pressure.
After the meeting, either person can decide not to continue. A polite no does not require a detailed explanation.
